The Delhi Golf Society’s motto ‘For Excellence In Golf’ has found reflection in the NCR Cup over the years.
The latest chapter, 7th Junior Golf Tournament, is another reminder that nurturing talent at the grassroots is the only way to place India on the world golfing map.
The Jaypee Greens Wish Town rolled out perfect conditions for the junior golfers on Thursday, and the players responded with some low scores.

Uday Aditya Middha (Category B Boys, 2-under 65), tiny tots Avviraaj Kalia (Category E Boys, 2-under 31) and Kabir Goyal (Category E Boys, 1-under 32) shot under-par to stand out in a field of 80 players.

Not just this trio, the scores on Day 1 were impressive. In the College category, Rajyeveer Sultania was the top name with a card of 71 at this par-67 course. Vijayant Pundir is a shot back and is followed by Rohit Narwal at 80.
In ‘A’ Boys, Hiransh Singh took the early lead with a level-par card. At 69, there is a three-way tie for the second spot between Vikas Kumar, Sukhman Singh and Ritadhvaj Bose. Aaidul Khan is in sole fourth at 70.
Chasing Uday in ‘B’ Boys is his Delhi Golf Club partner Ranveer Mitroo at 67 and Bhavesh Nirwan with a same card. Kanav Chauhan is sole fourth at 68.

Among girls in this category, Myra Kumar leads with 76, followed by Nora Beniwal (78) and Ashem Agnish (80).
Category ‘C’ is keenly placed too. Aney Shankkar is at 69, followed by Arihaan Beri (72) and Zorawar Singh Toor (73). In girls, Nyra Singh (81), Smira Bhambari (82) and Anushka Singh Malik (90) make up the top three.
Raajveer Singh leads Category ‘E’ Boys with 70, and is followed by Aditya Misra at 80 and Zubin Mehta at 83. ‘D’ Girls got just three entries, and Aanya Dandriyal (84), Anishka Varma (99) and Neeva Beniwal (108) made it -1-2-3.
The youngest players in the field stood out with Avviraaj Kalia and Kabir Goyal’s under-par cards. Jot Sarup Gupta (36) follows the duo.
