If sport is all about stepping up, the Delhi Golf Society (DGS) has shown how it is done with its latest presentation. The NCR Cup, 10th Junior Golf Tournament, which commenced at the Delhi Golf Club on Wednesday, has hefty prize vouchers on offer that easily qualify as a first in junior golf in the country.

Across all age categories in this WAGR ranking event, winners stand to win vouchers worth Rs 25,000, all of which adds up to Rs 2.5 lakh. This isn’t all as the top three in Categories A and B Boys and Girls will come away with vouchers for purchasing drivers, wedges and putters that range from Rs 50,000 to Rs 15,000.

Matching the offerings was the level of competition on Day 1 at the iconic Lodhi Course. DGS’ Camp of Excellence student Rakshit Dahiya opened up a handy two-shot lead in A Boys by shooting a 2-over 74 over Samarveer Singh (76). Savdeep Kadian is a shot back at 77.
Among girls in Category A, Kashika Mishra matched the day’s best card, 1-over 73, for a two-shot lead over DGC Camp of Excellence pupil Mannat Brar (75). Keya Badugu lies third with 76.
Udai Aditya Middha and Ranveer Mitroo, both with the DGS Camp of Excellence programme, left their mark in B Boys and tail leader Pritish Singh Karayat, who shot an opening 1-over 73. Udai lurks a shot back while Ranveer is two back of his teammate with a 76.
Prarthana Khanna was the top name in B Girls at 6-over 78. Aaradhya Shetty is a shot back at 79. The duo is followed by Aahana Kashyap and Ayesha Gupta at 80.
