The IPL Auction 2022 will see Kolkata Knight Riders with a new captain and the front-runner for this post is Andre Russell. The West Indian power puncher is on point position in the IPL 2022 retainer list as KKR, who fell short of the title in the previous season, opted to fall back more on their overseas players when it came to planning long-term.
While KKR did well in the 2021 season, leadership was always an issue and Russell will likely be their new skipper with the franchise seeking performance more than any star power. Two West Indians from among four retentions speaks for their weight in the team.
