Languishing at the bottom of the Indian Premier League 2021 points table, Sunrisers Hyderabad have changed their team leadership at the halfway stage. Kane Williamson has been asked to take the team’s reigns from trans-Tasman fellow overseas player David Warner.

Williams will be the in charge from Sunday’s match against Rajasthan Royals. Warner will stay as a precious top order batsman. SRH are languishing at the deck of the table. They have won just one game from their six outing this season, losing the other five.

The Hyderabad outfit had ended up in the third position under Warner’s leadership last year. However, situation this year has been far from good, compelling the think tank to assign the key task of reviving the team’s fortunes to Williams. The Kiwi skipper had also led the team in 2018 and 2019.

SRH in a Press release has announced the change of guard. “”The decision has not come lightly as the management respects the enormous impact David Warner has had for the franchise over a number of years. As we face the remainder of the season, we are sure David will continue to help us strive for success both on and off the field,” stated the release, also tweeted on the SRH certified twitter handle @SunRisers.

“The team management has also made the decision that they will be changing their overseas combination for tomorrow’s match against Rajasthan Royals,” the release further added.

Warner on Friday had taken full responsibility of the team’s loss to IPL 2021 table toppers Chennai Super Kings.
